Revision Process
This week, I only read-through one chapter of my novel (called chapter 5 but actually the 6th chapter if you include the introduction).
Fuck me. Fuck all of the everything.

WAMIV: There is no such thing as "non-forcible"... →

Now, I have had the fucking privilege of never being sexually abused in my life, so forgive me for taking some liberties here, but this is what I imagine a “non-forcible date rape” would feel like.
Imagine it is like when you used to have tickle fights with your friends. It starts off fun and you’re having a good time, but then you get pinned down by the other person and the tickles...
Vegan Dinner Dress Code
Nikki: What dress code is the vegan dinner?
Nick: All Hemp Everything
Nikki: Damn. Will my Kanye West white linen dress work? I'm thinking a white linen dress, cotton shoes, and a full seal fur
Me: Seal fur is so soft
I one window, I’m watching Nicki Minaj’s performances on SNL, “Right Thru Me” (I don’t like the song at all) and “Moment 4 Life” (which is narrowly made the cut onto my personal Pink Friday Compartmentalization EP, in which I pretend Pink Friday’s various failures don’t exist).
In the other window, I’m reading @ianinegypt’s tweets...

Even though Wheelchair Jimmy is not my idea of a good Prince Charming and Gentle Singing Nicki Minaj makes me sad, I’m reblogging this video for the first thirty seconds, during which Nicki has a convo with Fairy Godmother Nicki
pitchfork:
The wonderfully demented intro to Nicki Minaj’s Cinderella-themed “Moment 4 Life” video almost makes up for that Natasha Bedingfield track on Pink...

Robyn lets loose in this madcap, 60s-inspired video for “Bad Gal”, a new electro-dancehall track from producers Savage Skulls & Douster. Directed by Tim Erem.
The only thing I find more narratively interesting than competitive female relationships (Serena and Blair) are strong female friendships (Sex and the City doesn’t count).

Revision Process/Sick In My Nose
A cold sinus thing is taking over my body so I only revised two chapters this weekend. I had wanted to revise four, but I feel like my sinus are slowly inflating and like they will eventually cause my face to explode. So. Not going to meet that goal.

For the next two weeks, Dillenberger and Heinemann spent each night wedged into a tiny computer office—a former janitor’s closet at Bryant Junior High School—tapping code into a teletype machine. The teletype was a screen-less, electromechanical typewriter connected via telephone to a mainframe...

Revision Progress
On Monday I read through the introduction and first chapter of my book. I have an incredible amount of work to do before the book is finished but I also feel like I can see it more clearly. When I was writing, it was like I was walking on the roads and now that I’m revising it’s like I’m standing on the roof of a building looking down.

The Feeling: Tiger truthbomb →
I can’t figure out how to make my Tumblr display the full posts from ThingsIAte and TheFeeling, but basically Emily Gould agrees with an idea that you can’t enjoy something unless you are good at it and Patrick disagrees, using an exciting anecdote about substitute teaching, math, and teenage girls.

Nikki and I Talk About Our Feelings
Me: Thank you so so much for my gift. I tried the color on my toes last night and it looks awesome. I love you. It was seriously the bright spot in a dark week for me, and I felt really emotionally warmed by it.
Nikki: I demand that any and all future references to me in regards to the time period between Thanksgiving and December 31st be dedicated to Christmas and not anything "non-denominational."

Novel Progress/Shameful Toplessness
I haven’t begun to revise my novel. Out fishing.
My boyroommate Ryan is out of town until Monday, and I have a bad habit of walking around my house late at night in sweatpants with no shirt on whenever I perceive of myself as “alone” in my apartment. My girlroommate is not out of town. Just because we don’t hang out doesn’t mean she’s not going to walk into...

On Upgrading U
Earlier today I posted the video for the Beyoncé/Jay-Z love duet “Upgrade U,” which is for sure one of my favorite videos, but I was feeling a little bit irresponsible because I posted it without some commentary which feels relevant.
If you haven’t seen the video, what’s wrong with you, watch it.

Novel Progress
GUYS GUYS GUYS. Last night, I finished the last chapter of my book. And then, when I was driving home, the radio played Say My Name, Work It, and Big Poppa in succession. My swagger is like a hundred thousand million, you guys.
Onto Phase 2: Revising.
